I want to take a moment and thank Dr. Hammerschmidt and his team for the last 15 + years of caring for my animals. We have built quite a relationship and trust each others judgment. You have shown compassion, expertise, and your unconditional love throughout the years and I have trusted you with making sound decisions regarding my fur family. I have never felt pressured or uncomfortable at your establishment. Recently, I had to make the hard decision to stop my beloved Cole’s suffering. Unfortunately, Dr. Hammerschmidt was not available that day to assist so I entrusted in Dr. Molly to end his suffering. Although things didn’t go as planned and as smoothly as we all would have liked I need to give her a BIG thank you. Dr. Molly, this was my first time meeting you and definitely isn’t the way you want to meet someone. You were comforting throughout the whole process. You showed compassion and your love of the responsibility in being a Veterinarian. I know that all involved were upset but I need you to know that you did a great job. I cannot say a single negative thing about it. I am taking a break from being a fur dad for awhile but please know that I appreciate you and the staff who assisted. When I decide to bring another animal into my family you can bet I will continue to bring my babies to South Shore. Thank you again to all of the South Shore staff.

Just want to say thank you to all of the staff that took care of our beloved kitty. We had to say goodbye to her recently due to renal issues. Dr. Anderson was very kind and helpful and made her and is very comfortable along with all of the staff. We have her pawprint to remember her. We were first time pet owners when Ella came into our lives 10 1/2 years ago. We both had pets growing up, but Ella is our first pet on our own, together. We have been going to South Shore Veterinary Hospital since July of 2007.
Everything from the facility to the staff have been the best experience we could have ever imagined or asked for. The facility is conveniently located, immaculately clean, and very welcoming.

We truly are Blessed to have Dr. Kevin Hammerschmidt and his staff in our lives. Dr. Hammerschdmidt, Lori, Melissa and Michelle have been with us since day one. Whether it’s a phone call for a question or arriving for a scheduled appointment, we know that we are move than just clients. The staff at South Shore truly make you feel like Family. They are all thoughtful, personable, knowledgeable and compassionate.

Ella was diagnosed with pancreatic insufficiency early in her life. Recently, she was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy. Dr. Hammerschmidt was very professional, thorough, and compassionate in his diagnosis. He never gave us the runaround or put us through hundreds of dollars in unnecessary charges or multiple appointments. He provided answers very promptly.

Last, but certainly not least, we need to say a very special thank you to Carol, thank you Carol for showing us that there are people like you in this world!

Thank you just isn’t enough for all South Shore has done for us and continues to do still.

I have been using South Shore for about 8 years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The doctors are very patient and great with follow through, contacting me in person with test results, etc. They are happy to answer any questions or concerns and if they don’t have an answer they will get one. I trust the doctors and staff here and that means everything!

We have taken all three of our pets to South Shore for 8 years now. Dr. Ferguson is our primary Vet but each of the doctors that we have seen has been compassionate and knowledgeable. The facility is always clean and welcoming. The front desk assistants and technicians appear to truly love their jobs. We currently travel 30 minutes and pass three other Vet clinics to get there but would never consider going anywhere else. Excellent service.

I had to say goodbye to our dog this week, and while I brought him in by myself, I never once felt alone. Dr H and Sara were absolutely incredible and supportive. In moments where my strength felt gone, they lifted me up. Despite how many times they have had to deal with this unpleasant part of their jobs, it felt like Fozzie was special. They have shown him such love for the past nine years. So much gratitude.

Love South Shore..Dr Ferguson went above & beyond a few years ago when my cat Simone had some complicated health issues…she did research…gave me support and guidance..and was very sympathetic…Dr Hammerschmidt is great too…he did my other cat Louies dental surgery and was very thorough and the staff is pretty awesome too! I have a new kitten who will be going here this week..i know my animals always get the best care possible here!

Dr. Kretow is fantastic! I’ve never had a pet before so I sometimes have, what I think, are silly questions. Dr. Kretow always takes his time and answers all of my questions. The rest of the staff is awesome, too! The girls at the front are always so friendly when we call. I can’t say enough positive about the office.

What an amazing veterinary hospital. I have been looking for a vet for my dog for several years since moving out to this area. My poor pup had an emergency and they were able to take her right in as a new patient that day. That in itself is amazing. Once, we got there the staff and Dr. Hammerschmidt did a fantastic job. He was extremely thorough and even noticed things every vet before him has missed. We came up with a plan to try and help my pup without immediately jumping to surgery and explained everything in detail. Price was great, service, staff, facility, I mean everything was second to none!

We just had to put my little 13-year-old baby Lily down on Wednesday. I’m sure anyone reading this knows how hard that process is. We knew that morning it was her time, & we got our appointment. Dr. Anderson couldn’t have made the process more comfortable and comforting as hard as it was. As well as the nurses and I wish I remembered their names. If you even read this I hope you all know how much you are appreciated and as hard as it was, you made the process for us a little bit easier. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will always be missing a piece of my heart but I’m thankful for the harmful, quick process it was to put her at peace and thankful for you. I seriously cannot express how wonderful it is here. When I started bringing Jameson he had basically been kicked out of his prior vet. Slowly and very lovingly, you have helped him become an entirely different, much less anxious, wonderful dog.

South Shore is fabulous in every way. We have been clients since 2010 when we adopted our 1st rescue. With 3 dogs we have been through it all. From regular checkups, back injury, and boo-boo on a paw to, sadly, congestive heart, euthanasia, and sudden death. And Dr. Kretow has been right there with us through all of it. He has been so knowledgeable, caring, understanding, compassionate, and personable. The staff is wonderful as well. We have great confidence and peace of mind knowing that our remaining dog will receive wonderful care.

Recently it came time for our 12 1/2-year-old yellow Lab Rocky to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Kretow administered the medicine to put our beloved Rocky to sleep. He couldn’t have been more compassionate, speaking in a soothing, peaceful voice throughout. Dr. H was off that day, he was our regular Vet but they are both fabulous. Though its hard to talk about its something most of us fur baby lovers have to face sooner or later. All the girls in the office and techs. came to say their farewells to Rocky. Days later I received a call from the office telling me they had a paw print from Rocky and I could pick it up when I was ready. I couldn’t give them a better Recommendation. Thank you all.

I have had Dr Hammerschmidt since he was at the original Animal Kingdom years ago. He has done a few different surgeries on both my dogs including spays eye lid surgery and mass cell tumor surgery that were cancerous masses. This is one of the only places I trust to care for my dogs and perform surgery or routine care and the staff is always so nice and helpful. I highly recommend them to everyone =)

If you truly care about your pet, you won’t take them anywhere else. The staff at South Shore Veterinary Hospital are very knowledgeable. They take the time to explain things & answer any questions you may have. Most of all, they are compassionate. They truly care about your pet! I had tried several different Vets in the area. We recently took our cat there to be put down. The staff and vet we saw could not have been kinder or more sympathetic. They took us into a room immediately so we didn’t have to sit in the waiting room, they gave us plenty of time with our beloved cat so we could say good bye, they didn’t rush us at all and they even took our payment in the room so we wouldn’t have to go out in the waiting room again. They also treated our cat’s body with respect, wrapping her in her blanket before placing her in a box for us. Today, we even got a sympathy card from them.

I highly recommend this place.

I’m very picky when it comes to Veterinary Offices. After all, my pets are my babies. I’ve been to many different ones. Dr. Kretow was my vet at a previous office and I started to go to South Shore because he moved there. I’m so happy that he did. The facility is so clean, the receptionist and techs are very friendly and helpful. Dr. Kretow has been caring for my pets since 2012. He truly loves the animals and I have a lot of confidence in him. He takes his time explaining everything to you and thinks of different methods that best suites you and your pet. I recommend him and South Shore to everyone!!!
